Who We Are
Thirty Years. One Specialty.
Trillium Construction Management was founded on a single conviction: healthcare construction is too consequential to be managed by generalists. Since our founding, every project we have managed has been a healthcare facility.
Our History
The Trillium Story
A Focused Practice from Day One
Trillium was established in the early 1990s by construction professionals who had spent their careers managing healthcare projects and recognized a gap in the market: hospital systems and health networks needed a construction manager whose entire practice — every relationship, every process, every lesson learned — was built around the unique demands of healthcare facilities. We have never managed a shopping center, office building, or residential project. That focus is not a marketing position. It is the foundation of everything we know.
Building a Regional Reputation
Through the 1990s and 2000s, Trillium built its reputation project by project across the Southeast — managing hospital expansions in Georgia, ambulatory surgery centers in Tennessee, and critical care renovations in the Carolinas. Our regional focus was deliberate. The Southeast has its own regulatory landscape, its own labor markets, and its own construction dynamics. Deep familiarity with those conditions is a material advantage on every project we manage.
Three Decades of Institutional Knowledge
Today, Trillium brings thirty years of accumulated healthcare construction knowledge to every engagement. Our cost database, our regulatory relationships, our network of qualified healthcare contractors, and our understanding of clinical operations have been built and refined over hundreds of projects. That institutional knowledge is what our clients are hiring when they engage Trillium — not just project management capacity, but thirty years of healthcare-specific judgment.
Our Principles
How We Work
Specialization Over Scale
We are not the largest construction management firm in the Southeast. We are the most specialized healthcare construction management firm in the Southeast. That distinction shapes every decision we make about the projects we take on, the staff we hire, and the relationships we cultivate.
Continuity of Management
The same team that develops your conceptual budget manages your construction documents and is present on the day your facility opens. This continuity — one team, one point of accountability, from permitting through heads in beds — eliminates the handoff failures that plague projects managed by multiple firms across phases.
Clinical Partnership
We do not manage construction in isolation from clinical operations. Our project managers understand infection control protocols, operational workflow requirements, and the imperative of maintaining patient care during active construction. We work alongside your clinical leadership, not parallel to them.
Regulatory Fluency
Healthcare construction is regulated at the federal, state, and local level by agencies with overlapping and sometimes conflicting requirements. Trillium's thirty years of regulatory engagement across the Southeast means we know the process, the people, and the pathways — and we use that knowledge to keep your project moving.
Regional Focus
Southeast Market Expertise
Regulatory environments, labor markets, and construction conditions vary significantly across the Southeast. Our three decades of regional practice means we understand the specific dynamics of each state we work in — the health department review processes in Georgia, the CON landscape in Tennessee and North Carolina, the permitting timelines in Florida, and the contractor markets across Alabama and South Carolina. That regional fluency is not something you can replicate with national firms parachuting into local markets.
